Total Population of Haryana
The total population of the state is 2,53,51,462 persons, out of which 1,34,94,734 are males and 1,18,56,728 are females. Haryana is the 18th most populous state of India. The state has about 2.09% of the total population of the country.
The four most populous districts of Haryana are Faridabad (18,09,733), Hisar (17,43,931), Bhiwani (16,34,445) and Gurugram (15,14,432). The four least populous districts Panchkula (5,61,293), Rewari (9,00,332), Mahendragarh (9,22,088), Fatehabad (9,42,011).
Population Growth Rate
The population growth rate in Haryana was 28.06% between the years 1991 to 2001 which has decreased to 19.90% between the years 2001 to 2011. In 2011 the state records a decline of 8.16% in its population growth rate as compared to 2001 Census.

Literacy Rate
As per Census 2011, the state of Haryana records a positive growth in its Literacy rate. The state has a literacy rate about 75.55% in which male Literacy rate is 84.06% and female Literacy rate is 65.94%. The highest literacy is found in Gurugram district (84.70%) and the lowest is found in Mewat (Nuh) district (54.08%). The highest male literacy rate is found in Rewari district (91.44%) while lowest male literacy rate is found in Mewat district (69.94%). The highest female literacy rate is found in Gurugram (77.98%) while lowest female literacy rate is found in Mewat (36.60%).
